Frequently asked questions
About The 7 QC Tools, its certificate and enrolment.
Ask SterlingIt is for people who work with process data or take part in improvement: quality and production staff, supervisors, team leaders, improvement team members and process owners in manufacturing and services. It suits teams building a habit of data-based problem solving. No statistics background is needed; the course keeps the maths simple and focuses on choosing, drawing and reading each tool.
It covers the seven basic quality tools: check sheet, Pareto chart, cause-and-effect (fishbone) diagram, histogram, scatter diagram, control chart and stratification. Some lists include a flowchart in place of stratification, and the course explains both. For each tool you learn its purpose, how to build it and how to read it, then how to combine the tools to support corrective action, objectives and continual improvement in a management system.
It is a set of short video modules, each followed by practice questions, and a final exam. The course page shows the number of modules and the approximate video runtime; allow additional time for the practice questions and the exam. With 12 months of access, you can complete it in one sitting or spread it over several sessions.
Yes. Learners who reach the 70% pass mark in the final exam receive a Sterling Academy Certificate of Completion for The 7 QC Tools. If a point is unclear, questions are answered by a Sterling consultant.
The 7 QC Tools has a list price of US$149 per learner, with a limited-time offer of US$99 per learner until 31 December 2026. Teams save 20% for 11 to 50 learners and 30% for 51 to 200; 201 or more learners are priced on request. Client administrators can track their team's progress. Prices are in US dollars, excluding taxes, and Sterling confirms final pricing and enrolment.
No. The Certificate of Completion is a training certificate: it shows that one person completed The 7 QC Tools and reached the pass mark in its final exam. The 7 QC tools are methods, not a standard an organisation is certified to, and Sterling does not certify organisations. Certification to a management system standard such as ISO 9001 is granted by an independent certification body after that body's own audit.
Assessment & completion
